Garden Design
– This is how we do it at Saffron Garden Design
Everyone has a different idea what garden design means and what to expect, or sometimes no idea at all! From a quick sketch of possible ideas, to full CAD drawings with every detail specified (or just making it up as you go!), we have seen it all. We know that good garden design helps build better gardens and avoids unnecessary and costly mistakes in the build of your new garden.
Garden Designers
It’s important that your garden designer has a style you like, that they understand your requirements and that you both connect. Take a look at what we do and how we can help you to visualise how your garden could be.
This is how we do it;
For me, garden design is about these 3 things;
Function – how you will use the garden and what it will be made of.
Flow - the shape and layout, how your attention will be drawn as you move through the garden.
Feel – your garden should be inviting, making you want to be out there and enjoying it.
I have been designing and building gardens professionally for over 30 years, so I have seen a lot of gardens! I’ve also seen what works and what doesn’t, what gets on people’s nerves and what brings them joy. So I know how the look and feel can inspire you to use and share it. I also understand the long-term maintenance needs and chores that go into keeping your garden looking great.
We can build you a 3D computer based model of your garden so you can see how the finished garden will look, view it from different angles and virtually walk through it to understand how your new garden will work .
Step 1 – Visit and Discuss.
Following your enquiry , we make an appointment to visit and have a chat about your garden, what it is and what you want it to be. I add in my ideas, recommendations and practical advice – this is free.
Step 2 – Garden Design proposal
We will send you a detailed proposal and pricing.
If you want to go ahead, I will get to work planning your new garden based on your requirements and applying years of knowledge, experience and a generous dose of inspiration.
Step 3 – 3D Modelling
I build a computer based model of your house and new garden in our specialist software, all in 3D and to scale. I may need to revisit and take more measurements and levels, or contact you to discuss the various options being considered.
Step 4 – Presentation
When your design is ready, I bring it to you so we can sit down and view your new design from several different angles, close ups on the features and a take a virtual walk-through to really get a feel for how your finished garden will look. If I need to make alterations we can make a virtual appointment to screen share the 3D view, rotate and pan the model. We can even walk through the virtual garden to see different viewpoints and perspectives so we get it just right.
3D Walk-through
Here’s an example of how the walk-through works. The resolution is better than this on our presentations, but it gives an indication of how we can see the proposed new garden layout, “walk around” it and get a feel for the proportions and levels. This, combined with the traditional plan view, gives a full sense of how the project will be fulfilled.
“We’re very impressed with the quality of the materials used and the skill with which the projects were completed and we would definitely recommend you to our friends.”
